Softball!

October 24, 2006

Thanks Xiaobin and Beth for the late-night softball session! He really enjoyed it. Especially after finding out that he has improved and even possess the potential to pitch (can pitch).

Softball is fun! Wished more people are interested though… The Hall’s guys softball team is so far gone. What a pity. And he was hoping to play full games… Is it really true that guys aren’t meant to play softball ‘cos of all the waiting?

Nevertheless, he enjoyed himself tonight.

Yes, even the numb palm.

Joy

September 7, 2006

He thinks he finally found another thing he enjoys doing today: programming/writing codes.

Today is a long day. He had a digital communications lab where there are more than a hundred (rough guess) graphs to be sketched. Pure absurdity if you ask him. After that, he had to complete the database project with a bunch of his friends. At the very beginning, the mood was oh-no-more-work kind of “sian”. However once he got started on the actual coding, he started to enjoy the process. It’s kinda gratifying to know what you are doing. Hmm… he enjoyed the exploration too; testing various methods and stuff. Like learning about someone, finding the common rhythm… Hmm…

He thought he had lost it a year ago.

Side note, yesterday was the 3rd month since… Never mind. Time to move on I guess. Like aforementioned, today is a tiring yet satisfying day for him.

Fret Not

September 6, 2006

Why is everyone telling him not to worry? It’s not like winning or losing the election is so big a deal. Hmm… Maybe it is to some people other than him. Ah well…

But then again, he is really worrying about something. Nope, not hall stuff. It’s… Industrial Attachment Registration! Less than 5 hours to the dateline and he still hasn’t made a single choice. And there are more than 300 companies to choose from. Deep shit is an understatement.

Hah~ And he’s mad, grinning to himself at post time.

New Look

August 7, 2006

He spots contact lenses and a new hair colour now.

He feels so weird wearing the lenses. Nauseous too. He wonders if he wore them inside out or something.

Argh, no time, no time. He needs to rush off for lunch now.

Spooked

July 29, 2006

It was to be the final fright night rehearsal yesternight (friday). However, the cast was given the fright instead.

Guess what? The venue for the night disappeared! It’s not that they had made a mistake/wrong turn somewhere along the road. The entire place was torn apart and in the words of the chair, “had new grass growing all over it.” Amazing how a place can change in a little over a month. Now, at the eleventh hour, the race is on to find an alternative venue to host the all-important fright night for the freshnmen orientation camp.

But the above wasn’t really that frightening, was it? The scariest part of the night came later when everyone was gone, leaving him and another fellow actor waiting at a deserted rural road. Not that they were afraid of the supernatural or the fact that it is the lunar seventh month. In fact they were more bothered about the dog shit on the floor and mosquitoes swarming around them. And, of course, the discussion about whether to play mahjong after that.

After finally declaring that the suspicious pile (bloob/splat whatever) was indeed doggie poop, they decided to move down the road, towards the supposed exit of the damned place. What a wrong decision it turned out to be. As they walked, they realised from the high frequency of barkings, that there are plenty of dogs around. Now that is not strange, given the agricultural nature of the area. What worried them was the intensity of these barks. Thus they agreed that upon seeing a dog in front of them, they will stop all movement and observe its movement before deciding the next course of action.

They really did see the dogs. Behind a rusty gate, barking and growling. They turned and slowly retreated. He remembers these movies where by there are scenes depicting a chase. There would be a person trying to escape and a group of people trying to catch him. At the beginning both parties would be running around without knowing the whereabouts of each other. Then by wicked fate they would stumble across each other. Then there would be this surreal moment of stillness when neither party would move (to absorb the presence of each other). Then the spell breaks and the pursuit begins.

That was what happened here. There were these two dogs in a distance crossing the road. He paused, in adherence to the prior agreement. His friend stopped ahead of him. The dogs stopped too. And as the dogs turned, adrenaline started to course through their bloodstreams, slowing all motion. There was this briefest of peace before the lead dog started barking. The trailing one started to run towards them. And he turned to run. Followed by his friend. And the pursuit began.

He used to think being chased by dogs is something very funny. Something to laugh about. Not anymore. It’s actually quite frightening being chased by two ravening dogs. And they were almost cornered too. If the dogs never gave up, he and his friend would have ran into another pack of dogs. Surrounded by dogs is way, way, way worse than being chased by dogs.

Phew. Good thing that didn’t happen. As they huddled there in the dark, trying to keep as quiet as possible, they thought of an idea for the fright night: throw a pair of freshies in this area and let them make their way out of this doggie-infested hell hole. Hmm.. Wonder if the guy will abandon the girl…

Dimsum!

July 6, 2006

He successfully organised a dimsum outing with a small group of friends yesterday. Yeah~ Was held at the Teahouse @ China Square. Quite a big place really. Spacious, grand… and O the atmosphere….so very imperial chinese. Kinda odd to hear very 70-ish music under this setting though.

Anyways, met at 1430 and as usual, he was late. After getting a little lost, everyone finally sat down at the Teahouse 30 minutes later, just in time for the dimsum buffet. It was really weird to be the only customers around – all the staff’s attention are focused on you… Not that it’s something to complain about. Hah~ Anyways he thought that they took lots of food in the first round (the picture shows maybe half the table?). The food was really delicious… omg… so many different time of dumplings and what-nots. He doesn’t even know the names of the food he downed in that first round. But come to think of it, they finished it quite fast. Amidst the eating, they chatted – the ambience was quite nice and there was always someone on hand to help you fill your cup (maybe it’s because they have no one else to serve). The staff is rather friendly, offering lots of suggestions and urging them to eat more… even helping them to get the food. Ah…

Couldn’t finish the food in the end. They stopped at the end of the second. Somehow it seems that they ate much less than they would do on other occasions. Hmm… Left quite abit of food (some of the dishes not shown in picture as they were cleared) but the staff didn’t charge them a single cent nor scowl at them.

After the dimsum trip, he went for a fright night rehearsal at an abandoned farm in Seletar, which explains why he didn’t post this earlier. Anyhows, the mood is way lighter. Things are finally looking up. =]

Czechs and Italians

June 18, 2006

Oh no… the Czechs lost to Ghana! What now?!

He was wondering what Czech Republic would do after the loss of its two important and recognised strikers in Baros and Jan Koller. Guess his question was answered (according to some, in style) by Ghana. 2-0! What happened to the confident, goal-scoring Rosicky? Or the golden hair Nedved? This was a match they were supposed to win! Now the last 16 spot is in jeopardy… HaiZ~

Hmmm… but wait, both the Czechs and the Italians can make it to the next round. If… Czech Republic win Italy 1-0 and Ghana is bogged down by USA in a goalless draw, Czechs and Italians can all celebrate. So can he! Lol~

Next Italy.

Timeless

June 18, 2006

Yes, he can finally strike one off his wishlist now.

He first saw this watch after he was directed to Chronograph.com. After browsing through tons of pages, he stumbled across this piece, a Seiko Military Automatic (not sure what is the correct term really). It’s not the same as Sihan’s Timex but in a way, he prefers the simple watchface and the overall look. Looking at it, he decided that he has to have it. That was maybe… 3-4 months ago?

3-4 months later, he bought it, albeit with help from Marcus. Dream come true! Lalala~ Nice?
